The Ferroli Forest is born - Ferroli collaborates with Treedom to plant 1,400 trees
Ferroli Groups commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) has led to a partnership with Treedom to plant the Ferroli GreenGo forest with trees planted in Africa (Cameroon, Kenya, Ghana, Madagascar and Tanzania) and Latin America (Colombia and Ecuador) .
Each tree, during its life, absorbs CO 2 (carbon dioxide) from the atmosphere , fixing it in its woody parts. This activity allows CO2 to be removed from the atmosphere and its effects are greater the more the trees are enabled to grow and live for a long time.
It is a process of care and maintenance that lasts over years , and does not end with simple planting.
As these trees are planted in agroforestry systems, they will also bring economic and social benefits to the rural communities that care for them.
Trees have many ways of making themselves indispensable:
· They bring life, offering shelter and nourishment to various plant and animal species;
· They promote biodiversity. A landscape rich in heterogeneous species resists diseases better and becomes a paradise for pollinating insects;
· They create an undergrowth capable of intercepting rainwater and giving the soil time to gradually absorb it;
· They absorb CO 2 from the atmosphere;
· They counteract soil erosion thanks to their roots;
· They offer shade to smaller plants;
· They protect crops from increasingly frequent winds and extreme climatic events;· Wood for cooking is also obtained from the branches of some species (such as Grevillea, Gliricidia and Cassia), thus avoiding cutting down the entire tree.
Treedom projects contribute to the Sustainable Development goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all Member States of the United Nations in 2015. It is a global partnership aimed at reducing inequalities and stimulating economic growth, working together to preserve our oceans and forests.
We are proud to support Treedom , which with its tree planting activities in Asia, Africa, South America and Italy contributes to the achievement of the following 10 objectives to ensure a sustainable future:
· Zero poverty
· Zero hunger
· Quality of education
· Gender equality
· Economic growth
· Responsible consumption
· Fight against climate change
· Biodiversity
· Reduce inequalities
